In this six-hour workshop, you’ll learn the essential skills needed to begin creating your own leather projects with confidence.
We’ll start with simple strap cutting—an important foundation for making bags, belts and functional accessories. You’ll get hands-on experience with different types of leather, how they behave when worked, and how to choose the right leather for your project.
From there, you’ll learn how to create and adapt a card template, developing a prototype that you’ll use to cut your final piece. Templates will be provided, giving you a solid starting point for designing and modifying your own patterns in the future.
Using your template, we’ll cover how to cut leather accurately, form and fold it into shape, saddle stitch by hand, finish edges, and apply treatments to protect your finished work.
Typical items made during the workshop include pencil or glasses cases, small pouches for keys or phones, belts, bag straps and other simple accessories.
Everything you make is yours to take home, and you’ll also receive a handout listing tools, terminology and recommended leather suppliers.
